I was going to root passionately against the Chiefs in the Super Bowl because 1, Travis Kelce did uncharacteristically bad for my fantasy football team this year (I spent a first round pick on that bum), and 2, I am so sick of all this gossip about Kelce and Taylor Swift (the “Swifty Bowl”… really?) But Kelce is only one player. In spite of the most talented player on the team having a subpar season (at least by fantasy football standards), the team still made the championship game. And isn’t that the point of sports: a group of athletes coming together to overcome individual deficits? Plus, am I almost as bad as all those chatty women now gossiping about a FOOTBALL TIGHT END when I complain about it? The Chiefs somewhat represent the essence of sport, and what they have done is amazing. So, I am still going to root for the 9ers, but I do not hate the Chiefs as much as I once did, and I will not be so infuriated if they win ANOTHER Super Bowl.
