I thought being disabled makes you an outsider.
As I effortlessly ran through life,
I pitied the disabled.
“How can one have
an understanding of all the hard work
ambulatory people invest in society
from the comfort of a wheelchair?”
I now understand this “comfort.”
I have the viewpoint of an outsider.
I see existence from one perspective,
and you see it from a perspective
you may have developed
standing on two legs.
Although our understandings of existence may differ,
it is important that we have our own:
thoughts not viewed
as an “outsider’s,”
but our own.
